The Challenge
Create a future-ready website that embodies the power and momentum of the STARs movement
Opportunity@Work isn’t just another nonprofit. They’re rewiring the labor market to unlock the potential of over 70 million STARs, workers Skilled Through Alternative Routes. But their old website? It couldn’t keep up. Built on a rigid WordPress backend, the site was hard to navigate, harder to update, and failed to rally the right audiences, from policymakers to employers to STARs themselves. Opportunity@Work needed a flexible platform that could scale with their impact, serve four very different audience groups, and deliver a message as clear and compelling as their mission.
The Solution
A user-first, mission-aligned platform designed to convert interest into action
We partnered with Opportunity@Work to transform their site into a high-performing digital HQ that speaks to who they are now and where they’re going. Rebuilt in Webflow, the site now gives their team the freedom to create, edit, and evolve content at the speed of change. We created a modular design system that supports strategic storytelling and makes it dead simple for users to find what matters to them, whether they’re a STAR looking for belonging, a state official ready to drop degree requirements, or an employer ready to join the movement.

From Problem to Possibility
The redesigned site doesn’t just describe the barriers STARs face; it makes the opportunity to act unmistakably clear. Too many skilled workers are still overlooked because of outdated hiring norms. The new website experience meets users with a bold invitation: here’s the problem, here’s how you can help, and here’s how Opportunity@Work is building the infrastructure to scale change. Whether you're ready to invest, advocate, or implement STARs-aligned practices, the site connects your action to real systems-level impact opportunities.

Powering the Public Sector Hub
Policy changemakers now have a dedicated, membership-based space to access high-value, gated resources. Built using Webflow+Memberstack, the Hub ensures that STARs-aligned partners get the right content when they need it. And with every login, O@W gains a growing, qualified list of engaged contacts to support future outreach, mobilization, and relationship-building.

Modular Design for a Mission in Motion
Gone are the days of calling developers just to spin up a landing page. We delivered a flexible component library that lets O@W’s team build new pages and new data-based reports on the fly, without compromising brand integrity. This structure supports storytelling at scale and future content growth, from new research to campaign rollouts.

Putting STARs Front and Center
The heart of this platform? The STARs themselves. We elevated STARs stories across the site to make the movement feel personal, not just powerful. From data visualizations to profile features, every element is designed to help users see STARs as the future of work. Thoughtfully selected photography pairs names with faces—turning abstract systems change into something real, relatable, and deeply human.

Bringing the State of the Paper Ceiling Report to Life with a Dynamic Digital Companion
A centerpiece of the new experience is the State of the Paper Ceiling impact report companion, a data-driven story designed to challenge assumptions and shift systems. Rather than dropping a static PDF, we built a custom interactive page that draws users into the data through dynamic charts, visual storytelling, and clear takeaways. From exploring policy gaps to understanding STARs representation by state, the experience invites deeper engagement and makes the case for urgent change. It’s not just a report. It’s a rallying cry, engineered for action.
