Turn Numbers Into a Narrative

Insights

Stay in the know

As seen in the September 2025 newsletter; written by Jeremy Beyt, CEO.

I sat in a meeting recently where someone rattled off campaign stats: impressions, clicks, conversions. The numbers were solid, but the room stayed quiet.

That’s the thing about raw data. It’s boring. It doesn’t move people.

What moves people is the story behind the numbers. August was our best month ever. Conversions doubled while costs dropped 13%. We found the formula, and now we can repeat it. Same data, but now it creates clarity, meaning, and momentum.

I’ve noticed that most organizations are sitting on a goldmine of data but missing the story inside it. And without the story, the numbers rarely lead to action.

So, here are 3 steps for turning data into a story:

  1. Start with the headline. What is the one thing the numbers are telling you?
  2. Add the why. Explain why it matters to your team, your customers, or your market.
  3. Agree on the next step. Decide on what should happen now because of this insight.

We hope this gives you a simple way to turn numbers into something more meaningful (and useful).
