Are We Over-Optimizing Everything?
Stay in the know

Thoughts from the February 2025 TSE newsletter; written by Jeremy Beyt, CEO.
When was the last time you revisited the things you truly LOVE about your work? How much of your time gets spent doing that thing that brought you here in the first place?
In the past two years, the speed of marketing (and business, and culture…) has accelerated. Do you feel it too? In the marketing world, we see a strong demand for execution, efficiency, and optimization. Good (and necessary) things at face value, but with an inevitable cost.
You see it everywhere, the flattening of culture - there's so much MORE stuff and so much LESS meaning. When it all starts to look and sound the same, it all becomes invisible - or at best, forgettable.
Are we trading impact for efficiency? (and if so… where will that take us?) You can see it in the diminishing efficacy of digital advertising and beyond.
So as we go forward from here, I encourage you to make a little space for meaning. Revisit the things you love, toss out the meeting agendas, and embrace boredom (like pointless conversations). These are the prerequisites for true creativity - creativity that unlocks your next breakthrough and lights a fire in your spirit.
Then you can get back to optimizing.
