A new identity for a district on the rise.
EBR Schools didn't just need a refreshed look. It needed an identity strong enough to hold an entire parish together, across every school, every department and every grade level, and still feel like something worth believing in.

Shared rallying cry, “Dare to Be Great,” adopted across district and school communications.
A school district this big needs more than a logo. It needs something everyone can belong to.
East Baton Rouge Parish Public Schools serves students, families, educators, administrators and communities across an entire parish. Getting that many audiences and touchpoints to feel like one system meant going well past a logo refresh.
The brand had to honor the district's history while carrying a far more ambitious vision of where it was headed. It had to feel credible to a school board and approachable to a third grader, while giving hundreds of communicators a system simple enough to use and consistent enough to recognize anywhere it showed up.
More than anything, it had to capture what education in East Baton Rouge is really about: helping every student see what they're capable of becoming.

A brand built around the spark living inside every student.
EBR Schools' mission is rooted in transformational learning, and “Dare to Be Great” was already the district's rallying cry: a challenge to every student, educator and community member to expect more, reach further and believe in what's possible.
We built a visual identity worthy of that challenge. A bright color palette, expressive typography, hand-drawn iconography, energetic photography and graphic starbursts brought warmth and motion to a system that used to read as strictly institutional.

Consistency without sanding down the personality.
A school system shows up in a thousand places, usually through a thousand different hands. This identity couldn't just look good in a launch deck. It had to survive contact with real classrooms, real communicators and real deadlines.
We designed clear standards make the new expressive elements easy to use and scale across web, social, print, advertising, signage and merchandise without losing what makes the brand feel alive. The result is a visual language that can flex across hundreds of applications and still feel unmistakably EBR.

Giving student potential a friendly face.
We didn't stop at new fonts, colors and icons. We saw an opportunity to connect with students and families on a more emotional level.
So we created EmBR, a mascot that embodies the brilliance and creative spirit of students and educators across the school system. EmBR brings vibrancy and movement wherever it appears, serving as a beacon of possibility and encouraging students to embrace their curiosity, creativity and the potential within themselves to shine.

Giving "Dare to Be Great" a life beyond the tagline
There was no paid campaign behind this rebrand, so the impact was never going to show up in impressions or click-through rates. The real signal is what happened to “Dare to Be Great” once it had a full brand system, a visual language and a mascot behind it.
The phrase moved from a line in leadership's message to something built into everything the district touches: signage, social, merchandise, a mascot students actually recognize. District leadership, individual schools and programs use it constantly to talk about expectations, progress and student success.
At the same time, the district was building real academic momentum. In 2026, EBR reported its strongest post-pandemic LEAP results yet, with performance improving across every tested content area and holding steady or improving in 27 of 31 areas tested overall.
The brand didn't create that progress. It gave the district a clearer, more unified way to claim it. What EBR has now is an identity built for the institution it's becoming: optimistic, ambitious, unmistakably its own, with “Dare to Be Great” built into how it looks and sounds, not just what it says.
